The Lincoln family moved to this area in 1816 when Abe was just seven years old. During the 14 years the Lincolns lived here, Abe would experience the loss of his beloved mother, develop a love of books and learning, and discover the concepts of freedom, justice, and the law that helped shape his political views on slavery.
